Why we stay small, and park you for nothing

Twenty years of running shows has settled a few arguments about what actually makes a good day out.

There is a version of this business that chases square footage. We have never wanted to run it.

A hall you can walk in an afternoon is a hall where you talk to people. The trader behind the table is usually the person who made the thing on it, and they have time to show you how it works — which is the whole reason to come in person rather than order online at eleven at night.

The other thing twenty years teaches you is that a day out is spoiled before it starts by a car park. Every venue we use has free parking, level access and somewhere to sit down with a cup of tea when your bags get heavy. None of that is glamorous. All of it decides whether you enjoyed yourself.
